ATTENDANCE

PHD follows a similar calendar to the Olathe School District school calendar for Thanksgiving, winter, and spring break.  However, we are not closed for teacher in-service days, conferences, and other conflicts of this nature. When the Olathe Schools are closed for inclement weather, so is PHD.  Look at PHD’s calendar for other breaks given.  If you have any questions concerning the cancellation of classes please contact the studio.  Make-up classes are not given due to cancellation by inclement weather.

MAKE-UP CLASSES

Make-up classes are allowed for student illness and emergencies only.  These classes must be made up within the trimester/summer of absence, and may not be accumulated.  These policies are in effect to ensure the integrity of the classes and promote regular attendance.  PHD reserves the right to cancel a class if less than four students show up or if the instructor is unable to attend.  In this case, an appropriate make-up class with be designated. 

CLASS INFORMATION

Class sizes will be limited to a reasonable number.  A minimum of 5 students in a class is required.  If a class does not make the minimum requirement, then it will be cancelled and a refund will be sent to you in the mail.

PHD runs by a strict level of technique.  A student will be placed in a class by her/his level of ability, not necessarily age.  PHD will place dancers at their personal level. 

CLASSROOM ATTIRE

Tiny Two’s, Rhythm & Movement, Creative Dance, Dream Dance, and Combination Classes:  Girls – Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes with elastic instead of ribbons, and hair pulled back.  Any color ballet skirt can be worn.  Boys – Black shorts, white t-shirt, black ballet shoes, and black tap shoes.

Ballet Classes:  Levels I/II– Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, and hair pulled back in a bun with bobby pins.  No exceptions!  Levels III/IV – Any solid color leotard, pink/black tights, ballet skirts (optional), pink ballet shoes, and hair pulled back into a bun with bobby pins.  No exceptions!

Jazz & Leap & Turn Classes:  Level I-IV – Any solid color leotard, tights, jazz pants, jazz shoes, and hair pulled back.  No loose t-shirts, shorts, or midriffs!  Color of shoes will be determined after recital costumes are chosen.

Tap Classes:  Black Flat Tap Shoes

Hip Hop Classes:  Clean Tennis Shoes or Bare Feet

Modern Classes:  Bare Feet

ENROLLMENT

There is an annual enrollment fee of $40.00 per student.  We have no enrollment fee in the summer.  Families that enroll 2 or more children pay $40.00 for the first child and $20.00 for each additional child.  An enrollment form and recital agreement form must be signed prior to first class.  Tuition must be paid at time of enrollment to ensure a place in the class.  Payments can either be mailed or paid in person.  If mailed, then it must be received before the 10^th of the month or a $20.00 fee will be assessed.  There will be a $25.00 fee on all returned checks.  Fees are not pro-rated.  We give those families with two or more children enrolled a discount on tuition.  Tuition is non-refundable. 

COMPANY AUDITIONS

Auditions for the 2013-2014 PHD Company will be held July 26^th-27^th, 2013.  There will be different audition times for different ages.  PHD’s Company will compete at 5 competitions annually.  Company is required to take fall and summer classes.
